Lag Screws

Lag screws are hefty, hex head screws (or bolts) that are often used for industrial projects. Because of their size and strength, lag screws are used to connect large pieces of wood together, or to join wood and concrete. When attaching wood to wood, pre-drilled holes may be enough if the threading does not strip. If the threading strips or wood is being attached to concrete, then a shield should be placed in a pre-drilled hole. Lag screw shields are made of soft metal, which allows cold flow when the lag screw is installed and holds everything in place.
