Our Stainless steel black oxide fasteners are coated locally here in the USA. The black oxide is applied to 18-8 and A2 Stainless fasteners but can be applied to any grade of stainless or alloy. We black oxide and wax our plain stainless screws and nuts. The wax is invisible but adds a slight amount of additional corrosion resistance to the already resistant stainless steel. The black oxide looks very sharp and allows the customer to use stainless even though they really need to use a black fastener. Prior to this black oxide process becoming an off the shelf option for stainless fasteners, customers had to chose between silver stainless, or alloy steel black.
